P3pro Golf Simulator

The P3pro is a golf simulator and swing analyzer that uses an array of sensors built into a unit that fits a slot in the mat on the floor and hooks up to your computer. It works with all of your clubs including your putter and wedges. The software will accurately predict ball flight and give you the data on distance, swing speed, club head angle, and so much more. The P3pro allows you practice or play golf in your own home. It includes the practice course, driving range, and putting green.

We really enjoyed using the P3pro golf simulator. We had the net, sensor, and mat set up in the garage and ran the software on a lap top computer. The software is pretty easy to install and run even if you are not a big time computer person. The package comes with all the cables and interfaces you will need to hook it all up. Once we had it running the first thing we did was check out some of the analysis tools. This was pretty scary because it shows exactly how far from perfect the average swing really is. Once we all got used to getting set up and swinging in front of the net we were able to make adjustments to get the data on our swings to where the ball would go sort of straight.
The next step before trying to play the practice course was going to the virtual driving range to verify that the acquired swing data translated into the correct  ball flight. Unfortunately for us, it did correspond. A bad swing is a bad swing in reality or on the computer. At least all we had to do was chase this little foam ball around the garage. After a couple of hours of that  we were able to keep the ball on the driving range with a few different clubs so we decided to try the putting green. It works the same as the other analysis tools. You get data on face angle, speed, and distance of the ball. You need only to concentrate on the stroke.

We were then ready to hit the virtual links. Driving the golf ball was easiest part of the game because the ball is teed up and no divots are involved. Approach shots are O.K. too because you can tee it up low, away from the sensors. In other words you need to pick your irons pretty clean for no divots. The hard part of playing the practice course is the chipping and the putting. You can get used to how to hit different clubs for chips, lobs, or bump and runs on the driving range, but it will take a few rounds to get used to all the details and distances before you can shoot any good scores.

The P3pro is a real useful tool first and a fun game second. Dollar for dollar it is about the best golf simulator and analyzer of it's kind out there right now.
