| Grounds For
Golf
Grounds for Golf was written by Geoff Shackelford to help explain the fundamentals of golf course design in an understandable and entertaining style. By explaining the golf course from the ground up, Grounds for Golf will not only help you with your understanding of the game, but it will help you play the game as well. This book illustrates what makes certain courses timeless. It gets into how each and every golf course is unique. They vary from short to long, flat, hilly, wet or dry, each with it's own blend of risks & rewards. |

| Grounds for Golf is a fun book to read for any golfer especially for those of us who secretly wish we could go out and change something about our favorite or not so favorite courses. It covers several types of architectural approaches that were and are still popular today. In order to play the game better it might be nice to know what a particular architect was thinking when he designed a course. When you complain about a hazard or a feature on a course, you should know that it was probably put there for a reason, not just to make you mad. Once you know the reasons, those ponds, bunkers, and hills should be easier to cope with and the game should be more fun. | |
