After reading the book it was nice to know just how many rules we break in any given round of golf. Let us say it is quite a few on some occasions. Typically the worse we play, the more rules we end up bending or breaking. Usually it has to do with hitting the ball out of bounds or into hazards. My group tends to play everything as a lateral hazard, it's just easier that way. The exact place to drop and what the penalties are is important if you want to keep accurate scores and have a real handicap. However, there are some times where the rules can help you get relief that you might not normally take and improve your score. In any case it is always better to know the rules. Applying them may be another thing all together. The only good excuse for bending the rules if you are an average golfer is for pace of play. Don't waste time debating the issues right there on the course in between shots. Know the rules ahead of time and just do what ever it takes to keep the game moving. Always remember to take your Quick Reference Guide with you and keep it in your bag for when you need it. You can get more info at www.golfrulesmadeeasy.com |
