The Reunion Resort and Club is located off I-4 exit 58 near Champions Gate. When completed it will feature 54 holes of golf as well as a state of the art practice facility. There will be 18 hole championship golf courses designed by Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Tom Watson. The Palmer and the Watson courses are nearly complete and the Nicklaus course is just starting construction. The Palmer course is named the LEGACY and the Watson course is named the INDEPENDENCE. Right now golf is only being played on the front nine of the Palmer and the Watson while some bridges and tunnels are being completed.

One of the goals of the project was to make the courses feel like they have been there forever when in fact they are brand new. This was accomplished by preserving most of the original trees and by bring in almost a million dollars of additional landscaping. The irrigation and the seeding of the grasses on the fairways, greens, and tee boxes was also executed with that goal in mind. That being said the courses are always in really amazing condition.

The way it plays now you start out on the 5th hole of the Palmer course, a 182 yard par 3 from the back tees. Then you play the 6th through the 9th on Palmer followed by 1 through 9 on Watson and you finish up on 1 through 4 on the Palmer. Both nines are really fun to play but our favorite holes were number 7 on the Palmer and number 9 on the Watson. Number 7 on the Palmer is the short par 4 that you see with the bridge, in all the pictures. The green is drive-able but there are plenty of bunkers and only a small lay-up area. This is definitely a signature hole. Number 9 on the Watson is a 431 yard par 4 from the back tees. It plays left to right around a virtual moonscape of bunkers that can not be seen from behind the green.

There is no doubt that The Reunion Resort and Club with its 3 championship courses designed by 3 legends of golf, will be at the top of every ones list of places to stay in the Orlando area. It will also be one of the best places to live in all of Florida.
