Metrowest Golf Club is located on Hiawassee Road in the heart of Orlando. It is easy to get to from I-4 coming from The Tampa or Daytona areas. The Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and represents one of the only examples of his work in our area. It is always in immaculate shape and always in tournament ready condition. Metrowest prides itself on the pace it's pace of play and it's commitment to environmental awareness. Some of the recognized achievements of the golf club are as follows: Champions Tour qualifying site, US Open qualifying site, Florida State amateur, Buick Scramble VIP tournament, Four Star places to play by Golf Digest, and Voted number one golf course in Orlando Magazine in 2001. Metrowest is a beautiful golf course that is seamlessly integrated into the community of the same name. Water comes into play on less than half of the holes. The Tee shots are wide open for the most part but the greens are well guarded and have a lot of tricky hole locations. The course offers a nice combination of long holes and short holes. You will have to use every club in the bag to score well here. My favorite hole is number nine, a 405 yard par 4 from the Championship Tees. It is a dog leg left around the lake with a nice view of the clubhouse in the background. The tee shot is very demanding because you have to cut off some of the water or you might drive it right through the fairway into the trees which guard the right side. The green sticks out into the water and has two big bunkers guarding it's back. Metrowest Golf Club gets a must play rating from our group. Mike Fenton |
